Paranormal Theories List

Image
🏠   |   🧭   |   (updated September 23, 2025) I’ve been gathering different theories —more accurately, hypotheses , since most are not yet proven—about the currently unexplained , such UFOs and consciousness.  UFOs  1. credits to  Berlinghoff Rasmussen, r/UFOs moderator 2.  from Ret. Signs and Patterns of Hauntings

Image
🏠   |   🧭   |   When it comes to ghostly encounters, not all “evidence” is equal. Some reports can be quickly explained by psychology, environment, or fraud, while others resist easy dismissal and hint at something more unusual. Researchers have long tried to separate the ordinary-but-spooky from the genuinely anomalous. The following are some attempts to rank the signs of hauntings according to how convincing they are. I may add more later on. 1. This is from the  Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena   (ASSAP) 's  archived website .  Possible sign of a ghost Is it a ghost? Alternative natural explanations A figure wearing old fashioned clothes Unlikely Actor, re-enactor, fancy dress, fashion, etc. Transparent figure Unlikely In photos: long exposure ; in real life: possible hallucination . Three-Stage Fieldwork Guide for Paranormal Investigations

Image
🏠   |   🧭   |   This process (adapted from the book Ghosted: Exploring the Haunting Reality of Paranormal Encounters )  ensures investigations are thorough, systematic, and credible. Each stage builds on the previous one. Stage 1: Case Documentation (Background Research) Objectives Build a complete profile of the location, witnesses, and reported phenomena. Gather background info and context. Checklist: Site details – Age, structure, layout, environment (temperature, airflow, light sources, acoustics). Historical background – Past uses, significant events (deaths, tragedies, folklore, rituals). Witness interviews – Document psychological state, belief system, recent stresses or traumas. Note prior paranormal beliefs or experiences. Anomaly records – Catalog all reported phenomena (e.g., apparitions, sounds, objects moving). Note subjective reports (personal perceptions, feelings) separately from objective rep...

Analyzing Sounds in Paranormal Investigation

Image
🏠   |   🧭   |   This is a summary of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) 's guide to analyzing sounds during a paranormal investigation.  To learn some causes and types of haunting sounds, see this informative article by the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena (ASSAP) Purpose Extract reliable info from audio recorded on-site or supplied by witnesses; preserve evidence integrity. Preserve originals Immediately make a working copy ; store the untouched original safely (external drive/cloud). Never edit the original file. Forensic-style workflow Create a folder per recording + a text change-log named to match the file. Edit one parameter at a time (amplitude, filter, EQ, etc.). After each change: save as a new file with a clear name and log exactly what you did. This creates a reproducible audit trail of your analysis. Third-party recordings Ask the sender: why, when, where, what d...

Analyzing Pictures in Paranormal Investigation

Image
🏠   |   🧭   |   This is a summary of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) 's guide to analyzing pictures in paranormal investigation. Purpose Extract reliable info from photos taken on-site or provided by witnesses. Preserve evidence integrity and make your conclusions reproducible. Golden Rule: Preserve the Original Immediately make a working copy ; archive the untouched original (external drive/cloud). Forensic-Style Workflow Create a folder per image . Keep a change log (simple text file) in the same folder. Edit one parameter at a time (exposure, contrast, etc.). After each change, save as a new file with a clear name and log exactly what you did . Third-Party Photos Ask the sender: why was the photo taken, what they think it shows, where/when it was shot. Check filename pattern (manufacturer-style vs. “ghostpic.jpg” → likely edited). Compare claims with metadata (EXIF). If details don’t match, p...
